The tourist industry is one of the biggest and most important in the world service sector; unfortunately Brazil lags far behind in this area, but it improves every year. In 1997 statistic data shows 600 million international tourist trips, of which only 3 million went to Brazil that is less than half of one percent. However the number is growing every year, as Brazil can offer 5 thousand miles of beach, a nice tropical climate, the greatest rain forest on Planet Earth and a wonderful friendly people. Brazil just needs to learn to promote itself and invest in tourism infrastructure. Here is a list of interesting places you can go when visiting Brazil.

Algeria.. a beautiful window to the Mediterranean Coast

Compare hotel prices and find the best deal - hotelscombined.com

Each of the destinations in Algeria is unique, and is noted for its incredibly varied tourist attractions. Hence, there is no exception in the case of Algiers. Situated along the Mediterranean Coast, Algiers is the largest city as well as the capital of Algeria. Among many of its landmarks are Notre Dame d'Afrique, the Monument of Martyrs, the National Museum of Fine Arts, Ketchaoua Mosque, and the Masourah Fortress. Equally worth mentioning are the Algiers beaches such as ZeraldaAnnaba - Seraidi beach, Sidi Fredj, Douaouda, and Palm Beach. All of them are within close proximity to Algiers, and provide endless options for the visitors to indulge in a variety of activities, with its exceptional, charming and pleasant setting.

Sidi Fredj Peninsula, ALgeria
Zeralda
Zeralda Beach, Algeria
Perhaps the first name that comes into the mind when one thinks about a beach vacation in Angiers would be Zeralda. Nestled in Algiers province, it is a beach resort whose prime highlight is a holiday village as well as a replica nomad village. Further, it is a great place to enjoy a number of such water sport activities as kite surfing, windsurfing, and skiing.

Annaba - Seraidi beach
Seraidi Beach, Annaba, Algeria
Annaba - Seraidi beach in Algeria - North Coast is a fairly exposed point break that has consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Offshore winds blow from the south southwest with some shelter here from west northwest winds. Waves can be ok even in light onshore winds Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the best swell direction is from the north northeast. The point break offers both left and right hand waves. Good surf at all stages of the tide. The location means that it never gets crowded.

Sidi Fredj Peninsula
Sidi Fredj Peninsula, Algeria
A vacation to Algeria would be incomplete without taking a tour to Sidi Fredj, as it has to its credit some of the world’s most magnificent beaches. Located within easy reach of Algiers, it serves as a perfect base to immerse yourself in a spectrum of water sport activities, from skiing and cruising to yachting, fishing, and kite surfing.
However, Sidi Fredj’s attractions are not restricted to its stupendous beaches, and points of interest here also include an old fortress, an open-air theatre, tennis courts, and a commercial centre. To add to the incredibility of the place, there are open leisure spots graced with lawns and landscaped gardens. Apart from these, Sidi Fredj is home to some world-class resorts that provide luxurious accommodation facilities.
Palm Beach
Palm Beach, Algeria
Palm Beach, west of Algiers, has in recent years become a popular beach. It's a sunny Thursday. It is barely 9:30, when vacationers piled on the beach of fine sand. They came so early, it is to find a place equipped with necessary amenities. For those who use the coast through Staouéli at a late hour of the day, they will have some way to go because of the traffic, dense, and dams that police do not hesitate to call passengers to control routine. 20 km in two hours just to get to this place where palm trees that were all its splendor, are no longer part of the decor. Under a blazing sun, it is a real struggle, especially when the vehicle is not air conditioned.

Top 5 Greek Islands

Compare hotel prices and find the best deal - hotelscombined.com

With 227 inhabited islands, surrounded by crystal clear waters and offering world class beaches and landscapes, it is only natural that Greece was one of the first holiday destinations when mass tourism started a few decades ago.

Some islands became so popular that their entire economies are now centred on the tourist trade. However, there are others that have only been ‘discovered’ as holiday destinations - even by the Greeks - in recent years.

Greek Archipelago
Some are rocky, others green. Some are mountainous, others flat. Many are infamous for their nightlife, while others are renowned for their tranquility and relaxed lifestyle. Quite a few cater to high-end tourism and exclusive crowds, while there are islands that attract young and alternative types.

A top five list can never be exhaustive by any means, and you can only discover your own personal paradise by trial and error. In this issue we present ten of the most popular islands, a beginner’s list of classic Greek destinations.

1. Santorini

Santorini Island, Greece
If you’re going to visit only one Greek island in your life then let it be Santorini. Breathtaking volcanic views and one of the best sunsets in the world consistently place it at the top of any Greek islands list. Its beaches are very peculiar (and do not appeal to everyone) due to the black and red volcanic sand. Couples should opt for tranquil and romantic Oia, where luxury rooms with a Caldera (the volcanic crater) view can cost a forune, whereas those young at heart should choose Fira, the lively capital of the island built on top of the Caldera cliff with equally fantastic views. The eastern side of the island is generally cheaper and has little of the magic Santorini feel.

2. Crete

Crete Island, Greece
The largest Greek island, Crete has a distinct local culture and will satisfy whatever it is you’re looking for. Busy touristy resorts, wonderful old towns like Chania and Rethymno, amazing deserted beaches even in August (especialy on the south coast), unspoiled mountain villages with people utouched by the tourism ‘gold fever’, and the best food by far among all Greek islands. It is a trecker’s paradise, with top attraction the challenging Samaria Gorge and one of the highest mountains in the country Idi (locally known as Psiloritis). It is imposible to ‘do’ Crete in one visit so try to concentrate either on the East (based around Agios Nikolaos) or West (based at Chania or Rethymno). A car is neccesary in any case.

3. Mykonos

Mykonos Island, Greece
A cross between Capri and Ibiza (in its good days) but with a very cycladic feel, Mykonos boasts of the best beaches in the country, the craziest nightlife and the most ridiculous prices you’ll pay in Greece. Celebrities, gay, and wannabes flood the island every summer. They sunbathe their days away on their pre-booked sunbeds and the nights squeezing pass each other in the narrow streets of the picturesque village, moving between bars and clubs. Bring along the best pieces of your wardrobe (preferably white), all your energy and credit cards. The fact that world famous Japanese restaurant Nobu set up shop first in Mykonos and a few years later in Athens says a lot about the kind of holiday you should expect here.

4. Hydra

Hydra Island, Greece
Just an hour and fifteen minutes from Piraeus, Hydra is one of the prettiest Greek islands with a unique architechture that has been preserved due to a strict development policy. Large houses belonging to historic figures loom on the hills on both sides of the picturesque harbour and there is a total car and motorbike ban on the island. Instead, mules lining up with their owners untertake all the transportation burdens of locals and visitors (and litter the narrow cobbled streets). To go to one of the sandy beaches of the island, one must hire a sea-taxi, but the deep blue waters just off the harbour are where most people go to swim. Nightlife is basic but adequate for a relaxing holiday.

5. Cephalonia

Cephalonia Island, Greece
Louis De Bernières has done for Cephalonia what the best PR consultant wouldn’t even begin to imagine with his wonderful novel and worldwide best seller ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ (Amazon £5.99) which is set on the island. And when the film came out a few years later the natural beauty and the sapphire waters of Cephalonia were advertised on screen too and its tourism fortunes were turned upside down overnight. Myrtos is the most famous of its beaches, but there is a plethora of things to do and wonderful nature to appreciate away from the coast too. Argostoli and Lixouri are the two (rival) main towns, while Fiscardo and Sami (the village where the film was set) are well worth visiting.

5 Stunning Places to Make You Fall in Love With China

Compare hotel prices and find the best deal - hotelscombined.com
In my time in China I have been privileged to visit countless places of beauty and cultural interest. Here are my five most stunning places that i have been to in the Middle Kingdom.

1. The Summit of Emei Shan. Sichuan province
Summit of Emei Shan, Sichuan, China
Emei Shan is a mountain is Sichuan province and one of the four sacred holy mountains of China. The climb is over a series of dominating peaks and there is a 40km short route, or a 60 km long route, both of which involve trekking through dense mountain forest paths and endless stone steps, along with not so friendly monkeys that ambush you on bridges in attempt to steal any food and drink exposed on your person. Along the way are numerous Buddhist monasteries and temples and the solitude given from the remote location makes there something extremely spiritual about this place. After one or two long days hike to the summit base camp. There is a further 2 hour ascent up stone steps or a cable car that enables you to short cut this final step to the summit. Once arriving at the very top after all that hard work. The sunrise rising over the serene sea of clouds below you leaves you silent. All the effort of getting to the top suddenly becomes obviously worthwhile.
2. The stunning Li River, Guilin to Yangshuo, Guangxi province.
Li River, Guangxi, China
According to an old Chinese proverb Guilin scenery is the best in the world, and Yangshuo scenery is the best in Guilin. The Limestone Karst landscape creates an unparalleled scene of triangular shaped sharp peaks rising up from the ground and reflecting the sun into the clear river water. The small rafts that you can take typically last 4 hours and during this time you can relax and swim in the pristine river. Such a place for any natural world lover is an absolute paradise and is some of the most photogenic scenery in the entire world.
3. The mountain ascent of Hua Shan, Shanxi province.
Hua Shan, Shanxi, China
'Splendid Mountain'. Close by the old capital of Xian and the Terracotta army is famous for its dangerous looking chain walkways and 2km sheer drops. The mountain has 4 peaks, a North, East, South and Western peak and in the four are connected by a complex multitude of different mountain paths, making it easy to lose your way on the trail. Along the wider, better travelled stretches of mountain paths and steps you will see endless padlocks and red bands symbolising good luck and prosperity. Many of the smaller paths are surrounded by sudden drops and Chains are anchored into the rock to prevent you from falling to the bottom. On one stretch of the mountain there is just a 30cm outcrop with no chain posts. I love Hua Shan because this mountain gives you a feel for the insignificance of man and the great power of nature, along with some stunning views from the peaks.
4. The Great Wall of China, Beijing.
Great Wall, Beijing, China
The place everyone knows, it wasn't until 9 months after I started teaching English in China that I finally went to see for myself the great wall. Take the time and pay a little extra to go to a less touristy spot. The wall stretching across endless mountains makes it hard to believe that building such a thing is within human capability. Although the recreated and renovated tourist stretches are great for showing what the wall looked like at its peak, I believe it is important to see the real, actual wall which was standing there at the time of the Invading Mongolian tribes obstructing their path and protecting China. Travelling further West from Beijing to as far as Xian there are numerous stretches of original, old wall, in some places now barely visible. Seeing both old and new gives you and appreciation for the history and reasons behind this great world structure.
5. The Giant Pandas, Chengdu, Sichuan province.
Chinese Panda
The Giant Panda is such a beautiful creature and that they are almost impossible to see in the wild. Sichuan province's provincial capital Chengdu is home to the only Giant Panda breeding research centre in the world, inexpensive to enter and home to a large number of both giant and red pandas, it is no surprise that this station is so popular. The first time you peak around the corner of the simulated natural bamboo forest enclosure to see these cute gentle giants is enough to captivate any traveller.
